PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

Portable fire extinguishers are required to be inspected on a 6 monthly basis and pressure tested on a 5 yearly basis, hazards sites require pressure testing on a 3 yearly basis.

There are several types of portable fire extinguishers available. Each type of extinguisher may be rated for one or more classes of fire

The most common types of portable fire extinguishers available are –

  • Water
  • Foam
  • CO2
  • Dry Chemical Powder
  • Wet Chemical

FIRE DETECTION & EVACUATION SYSTEMS

Fire detection systems require testing on a monthly basis. There are 10 monthly, 1 six monthly and an annual inspection that is spread over a 12 month period.

Smoke alarms are now mandatory in all homes, caravans and campervans throughout NSW. Don’t get caught out without your smoke alarms !

FIRE HYDRANTS & FIRE HOSE REELS

Fire hydrants & fire hose reels are required to be inspected on a 6 monthly basis, there is 1 six monthly and 1 annual inspection over a 12 month period.

Flow and pressure testing are required on some inspections

EXIT SIGNS & EMERGENCY LIGHTS

Exit Signs & Emergency Lighting is an essential requirement in the evacuation of a building during an emergency, power failure or fire situation where smoke may inhibit the path of travel to the nearest exit.

Exit and Emergency lights are tested on a 6 monthly basis to ensure correct operation in the event your building looses power
